This week in our guided reading, we came across a strange instrument called the Stylophone. Here is a short clip of the Stylophone being used to play a short piece of music from a very popular movie – See if you can work out which movie and let me know via the comments.

Welcome back to the blog and to Term 2. Holidays have been relaxing for all of us I am sure. This term will see us start our interactions with the local nature park and the big ticket item is the construction of the Aboriginal Canoe from a beautiful gum tree. We will also start plant and weed identification and an eradication program of feral species in conjunction with the plan to increase the number of native plant species within the park.
In the classroom we will see the Year 5′s undertake NAPLAN in week 4, Peer teaching will be a focus for some of you this term, Technology will have a Japanese focus with Oragami and a Bamboo Water Feature our goals. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Fun Run to raise money for some new playground equipment, Cross Country is on the agenda and SAPSASA football and netball will see some students take a trip to Adelaide for the week.
With all that in mind we still have an obligation to some teaching and learning in our classroom. So here are this weeks spelling and homework sheets.
It’s going to be a great term and I am really excited about all the great learning opportunities coming our way.

I know many of you enjoy watching strange things posted on our blog and this week some of your homework will be comprehension from this zany video from the band called OK GO. The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs ( http://syynlabs.com/ ) over the course of several months.
There is an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the warehouse here: http://www.okgo.net/this-too-shall-pass-rube-goldberg-machine/ if you are interested in watching that also.
